Contest Winners!

AmeriCU Credit Union is pleased to announce the winners of its first-ever Community Giving Contest! This contest was designed to support nonprofit organizations that are making a difference in our community – creating meaningful connections to make our communities stronger. Three outstanding organizations from Tompkins County have been awarded $1,000 as part of a $20,000 initiative benefiting nonprofits in St. Lawrence and Tompkins counties.

Congratulations to the Tompkins County Winners!

1. The Women’s Opportunity Center of Tompkins and Onondaga Counties – To equip women in our community with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed personally and professionally.

2. Hangar Center for the Arts at Ithaca – The Hangar Theatre creates and presents performances of exceptional quality in New York’s Finger Lakes region while training the next generation of theatre artists.

3. Tompkins Connect -To connect young professionals and emerging leaders through networking, community building, and volunteerism in Tompkins County.

4. Human Services Coalition -The mission of the Human Services Coalition is to enhance the delivery of health and human services in the Tompkins County area.

5. Foodnet Meals on Wheels -Our mission is to provide meals and other nutrition services that promote dignity, well-being, and independence for older adults and other persons in need in Tompkins County.

6. SPCA Tompkins County -The mission of the SPCA of Tompkins County, located in Ithaca, NY, is to protect companion animals. We are a no-kill shelter dedicated to preventing animal cruelty and overpopulation. We promote responsible pet stewardship by providing education, counseling and training to nurture and enhance the human-animal bond.

7. Community Foundation of Tompkins County -Community Foundation of Tompkins County, established in 2000, has a mission to bring people and resources together to build a more equitable Tompkins County by inspiring diverse philanthropy, catalyzing collaborations and championing inclusion and justice. As much as we fundraise for immediate investments into our communities, it is just as important to establish gifts for the future.

8. Hospicare -Our goal is to help people live their final months as fully and peacefully as possible. High quality healthcare is important at every stage of life and we consider it a privilege to walk alongside those who are facing terminal illness, coping with grief, or seeking to learn more about these profound experiences.

9. Fingerlakes Independence Center -To empower all people with disabilities while creating an inclusive society through the elimination of social and architectural barriers.

10. Family and Children’s Service of Ithaca -Family & Children’s Service of Ithaca, is a leading provider of mental health care and related social services for people of all ages in Ithaca and surrounding towns and villages. Our dedicated staff help to heal traumatized and hurting children, strengthen individuals and families, and provide hope and recovery for those battling mental illness.

This Community Contest reflects AmeriCU Credit Union’s dedication to its mission of enhancing the financial well-being of its members, while investing in the strength of local communities. Our community organizations play a crucial role, and we are honored to contribute to their missions.
