AmeriCU Credit Union is honored to welcome retired U.S. Army Sergeant Major

LOWVILLE, NY – JUNE 27, 2024: AmeriCU Credit Union is honored to announce the appointment of retired U.S. Army Sergeant Major Richard Foist as their new Lowville Financial Center Manager. With extensive experience in leading diverse teams, he brings invaluable expertise to his new role.

Foist recently transitioned from United States Army after a successful military career of 23 years. He is responsible for managing daily financial center operations, ensuring exceptional member service, and supervising the Lowville team to meet their goals. He plays a critical role in fostering a positive work environment, nurturing employee development, and maintaining strong relationships with both members and the community.

“I am looking forward to contributing to the growth of AmeriCU within the community by helping members navigate their financial journey,” said Foist. “I will help to bring the best AmeriCU has to offer to our local community to help individuals achieve their financial goals to live life, dream big, and achieve financial success.”

With a distinguished military career, Foist’s follow-on assignments include Armored crewman, 3-66 AR BN; Tank Gunner, 1-22 IN BN at Fort Hood, TX, MGS Stryker Commander 1-5 IN BN, Brigade Liaison NCO 1-25 Fort Wainwright, AK; Drill Sergeant 1-13 IN, Deputy Senior Drill Sergeant Leader, United States Army Drill Sergeant School, Fort Jackson, SC; Platoon Sergeant, 1-72 AR BN, Camp Casey Korea; Platoon Sergeant & First Sergeant, 1-63 IN BN, HHC First Sergeant, 1-18 IN BN, Fort Riley, Kansas; Senior Military Instructor, Providence College, Rhode Island, and Operation Sergeant Major for 1-89 CAV Fort Drum, NY.

In addition to his military experience, Foist is a highly acclaimed officer who has received numerous awards and decorations. He is also the recipient of the Order of the Gold Spur, Sergeant Audie Murphy Medallion, Bronze Order of Saint George, and the Silver Order of Saint Maurice.

Foist completed a Bachelor of Arts in Leadership and Workforce Development from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC) at the Sergeants Major Academy (SGM-A), a Bachelors in Homeland Security with American Military University, and a minor in Organizational Leadership from Western Kentucky University. Foist’s strategic thinking, organizational skills, and commitment to teamwork will help his team and credit union members achieve their goals. He resides in Carthage where he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.

Scott Morgan, formerly the Lowville Financial Manager, has transitioned into a new role. Morgan will still serve the North Country community as AmeriCU’s Fort Drum Financial Center Manager.
